The Truth About Truffle Oil

Most truffle oil is olive oil infused with the flavor and aroma of truffle essence. These flavorings are used because they last longer than a truffle oil made with fresh truffles. This is very easy to do.  No special equipment is needed for small batches. The downside is that poor quality, synthetic flavorings can be harsh and gassy.

Other truffle oil recipes out there say using fresh truffles is the only way to go.  Yes, this is great because if you do it correctly you will get a beautiful, delicate truffle flavor and aroma for your oil. The problem with this method alone is that the flavor and aroma may only last a few days. The sulfur compounds will dissipate into the air and you will be left with nothing. This method is also far more expensive because you will need a lot more fresh truffle.

Our recipe gives you the best of both worlds by using fresh truffles and our all natural truffle essence to give you a great and long lasting flavor.
